Brevard, NC

Pisgah National & DuPont State Forests

Brevard sits between two forests that ride nothing alike. Pisgah National Forest is old-school Appalachian riding. Roots, rock, long climbs on gravel, and descents that were laid down by feet and hooves long before anyone brought a bike out here. Twenty minutes down the road, DuPont State Recreational Forest trades all that for granite slab, waterfalls, and machine-built flow. Downtown Brevard sits between them with the bike shops, the breweries, and a whole lot of riders comparing notes at the end of the day.

Why We Love Brevard

Old-school tech in Pisgah, machine-built flow in DuPont, twenty minutes apart. Two completely different rides, one town.

Our Top Trails To Ride in Brevard

You don't come to Brevard for one kind of trail. Pisgah is roots and rock and long climbs that earn the descent. The kind of trail that was there before there was a name for it. DuPont is granite slab and flow that rewards going fast. Ride both and you'll understand why people plan whole trips around this town.

The trail people use to decide whether they actually like Pisgah. Steep, rooty, rocky, and it does not let up.

One of the hardest descents in the East and it doesn't pretend otherwise. Plenty of riders walk sections. No shame in it.

Open granite slab with the whole forest laid out around you. Grippier than it looks, right up until it isn't.

Pisgah Area SORBA

Pisgah Area SORBA (PAS) is the nonprofit that stewards and maintains the trails across the Pisgah Ranger District, working alongside the US Forest Service. They led the trail recovery after Hurricane Helene with paid crews and a lot of volunteer hours. Over in DuPont, Friends of DuPont Forest does the same work on the state side. Both take memberships and both run trail days, and showing up for one is the most direct way to pay the riding back.
